This article provides troubleshooting steps on how to reset a student or staff member’s password in Google.
User forgot their password
User cannot log in
Password resets cannot be completed over the phone.
A ticket must be submitted for any Google password reset request.
For Students
A ticket must be submitted on behalf of the student who needs their password reset.
The student can have their teacher or someone from the front office submit a ticket on their behalf.
For Staff
Staff password resets also require a ticket and cannot be completed over the phone.
Staff members must submit a ticket for their own password reset request (or have an authorized campus/department representative submit one on their behalf, if applicable).
After receiving the ticket, follow the password format below to acquire the correct password for the user.
3rd grade users have their birthdate as their password.
4–12 (and beyond) have their password set as a combination of the first initial of the first name and first initial of the last name, followed by the number zero, then their ID number (Student Number for students).
Reset the user’s password in Google by following the format instructions above.
After resetting the password, respond in the ticket with the Student Password Reset - New canned response to provide the student/teacher/staff member with instructions on what the password has been changed to.
